Nina Baxter (b. 1992, London, UK) received a BA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2013. Nina’s paintings capture episodes of everyday life, particularly fleeting moments of beauty, love and exploration, turning personal experiences into a conduit to convey emotions, memories and sensations that are common to our human experience.

Nina records these passing moments using a tool almost everyone carries around all the time, namely a smartphone. At the base of her creative process sit these objective photo references, which she then elaborates with elements that emphasise the memory of that specific place, moment, feeling or sensation in her painting.

A keen interest and background in Art History informs Nina’s work, particularly looking at the ideas and treatment of different subjects by groups of artists such as the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. This interest is particularly present in the treatment of timeless subjects such as the ever-changing colours of the sky at sunset or the rippling reflections of light on water.
